For my Final Major Project I will make a 3D architectural model of a house. It will be a permanent structure because ground works will be required.
The reason why I've chosen Paradise is because Paradise is a religious or metaphysical term for a place in which existence is positive, harmonious and eternal. The Abrahamic faiths associate paradise with the Garden of Eden, that is the perfect state of the world prior to the fall from grace and the perfect state that will be restored in the world to come.
Garden of Eden

This are some paintings and images that portrait the Garden of Eden.
Here you can see what is considered as Paradise.
Everything is in the Nature and all the life is living together in harmony, and that is one of the reasons why it is considered as Perfect.

Utopia
Similar with Paradise we have Utopia, that is a community or society possessing highly desirable or near perfect qualities.

My paradise
As Paradise is considered as a perfect place or state, so a tropical Island where you feel that everything is perfect and wondeful can be a perfect example of it.

Here are some examples of the places I consider to be a Paradise.
- All of the images are really light and peaceful.
- They are all into the nature, they all have palm trees, that is one of the features that I will include on my 3D model.
The reason why I’ve chosen the theme Paradise is because as I will make a 3D House Model and I wanted it to be a comfortable and nice place to be. As normal when you think about moving house or going in holiday, it is obvious you will think about a nice place and with a beautiful landscape, so you know it will be your paradise, and that is the reason I've chosen this theme & also this images, because this is the type of place I want my house to be or the atmosphere I want the house.
However In the contemporary society we are not satisfied with waiting to enter Paradise when we die. We seek it out on the earth, one of the ways we do this is through beautiful holiday destination. However, often we spoil paradise, with ugly and monstrous hotels.

Rio de Janeiro Beach Hotels
Here are some examples of spoiled landscape!
What I mean by this is that in these 3 images there's a beautiful beach landscape that people look for to spend holiday or maybe to move in, and when they found it it is completely ruined because of the monstous hotels that were built right next to the beach.
It is acceptable the idea that hotels are needed in this places due to the turism, but when you build an hotel or house or anything, it is always necessary to think about the comfort of the people that will use it, the hotels are useful in the summer because there's lots of people to spend holiday, but it does spoil a beautiful landscape that could be improved with nice hotels and houses.
Maybe smaller hotels with better designs or design that fit in the nature would help a lot to improve the quality of the landscape .

Evaluation
The aim of my Final Major Project was to create a 3D house model, based on the theme Paradise, but essentially to make people feel like they were in the paradise when inside it or when looking at it.
I think I did achieve my aim because I wanted to make a house appealing to everyone, but in the theme of Paradise! As I did use components like sand, and even with the designs as I used colour – I used mainly light colours as yellow to give the atmosphere of paradise- also the windows, I used oversized windows as the house is placed near the beach it has a lot of natural lightning.
My research inspired me a lot on my FMP, because I did research about existing 3D models and also about Model Makers and as it is something I really enjoy it did give me inspiration. Also the visit to the V&A museum inspired me because I went to see an architectural room and there was a 3D model, with sketchbook work as deigns and annotations and it did help me to understand that designs and annotations are fundamental for my FMP. My research in developing my final major project was successful, in some parts, because I did go on YouTube to see examples of people making models and I did develop my own idea, also I did research about areas of the houses what was successful because otherwise I would just place it in any country without any idea of what the area should be.
My idea did develop well, I did some designs and I picked the one I liked more, even if the design wasn’t clear. My experiments helped me a lot to develop my FMP, because it gave me brief ideas on how to do the walls properly instead of just doing it in the easy way.
I had problems on making the windows – even though I had a place to fit the acetate on the window, it would come off easily, so I had to use glue, that would get transparent so it would look good when dried. Also problems on making the inside stairs, I wanted it coming from the walls , but one side had no wall, so I had to use acetate on half of it, to be able to stick the stairs there. My strengths were the walls and the garden, in my opinion I used the foam board effectively and so the walls were pretty good, same with the garden, I found a simple way to make it and it still looks good.
I decided how I was going to make my final outcome during the second week, as I was still doing research and the ideas were just developing. However, I had to think a lot on how would I make my ideas link with my statement of intent, because my initial idea had nothing to do with Paradise, so I started making designs and designing it on computer. Also I got different pictures of my theme to pick features and include them on my designs. During the second and third week I did a lot of experimental work, to get the right technique and once I found it I did stick with it till the end. The strengths of experimenting everything before doing it is that you can’t really get it wrong when done it in the real outcome, the weaknesses are that I did waste a lot of time experimenting everything and I wasted material that I could use on my final one. I wouldn’t change any method of construction if I were extending the work, because for me it was successful even if I wasted some time, I did feel comfortable with the methods I used and I also enjoyed so I wouldn’t change anything.
My final outcome links with my Statement of intent in many ways, one of them is I used components of paradise as sand, also the place where I want my house to be placed is nice, next to the beach and the house also has oversized windows so the natural light can go into the house. It was a successful piece of work, as I did everything I wanted, I finished on time, I like it and also it looks good quality. People like my final outcome, they say it looks good and with quality. I feel positive about my final outcome, I like it, I did it the way I wanted and so I don’t see anything wrong with it.
At the beginning I planned to research at home and do my 3D model in college as I would have more equipment, but after I had to reconsider my use of time. The reason was because I was a little bit behind and also because I got really distracted and ended up not doing as much as I wanted to do every week , so there was 2 weeks that I had to work more than expected not to be behind.
The feedback from the tutors was useful, because it did help me to think a little bit more constructively about my project and also about my ideas. However, sometimes it can confuse a lot, because they say something really different from what I had, and I ended up not knowing if I should stick with my idea or change it. ( I did stick with my ideas)
The weaknesses about my FMP is the walls may not be straight, and also there’s bit that are not cut properly. However if I had to re-work any section I would re-work the outside part, the reason is because I don’t think I did it good enough, however it looks fine. If I had 10 weeks to extend my work I would do proper designs and drawings to help me with the placement of the walls, as mines are not done at 100% quality for me.
